Prevention Or Enigmas
Lymphedema develops when axillary lymph nodes are removed-
- Congestive lymphatic failure can appear when there is a decrease transport for lymphatic fluid
- Lymphatics that were spared compensate by taking on the work load of the missing lymphatics but fatigue and structural changes are inevitable (activities can trigger a further decrease of the transport capacity or increase the lymphatic fluid load
Primary Lymphedema usually develops after an injury (minor trauma is enough to reduce the transport capacity of the lymphatics to below of the ‘normal’ load)
