Two main classes of phytoestrogens
- Isoflavones (mainly come from soy)
- Lignans (primarily from seeds, grains, and legumes)
- Results have generally been mixed, some with no association and other studies showing a significant association
Asian women seem to have a reduced risk potentially due to soy foods—a main source of isoflavones and a staple in the Asian diet
